School Nurse News
Our district has partnered with the Cumberland County Health Department to offer the HPV (Human Papillomavirus) vaccine to Lakeside students. This is the only vaccine that has been proven to prevent certain types of cancers that can affect both boys and girls. HPV can cause anal and mouth/throat cancers. It can cause cancer in the cervix, and other cancers of the female reproductive organs.
This vaccine is a three-shot series give over 6 months. A signed consent is required for each dose of the vaccine. If you have a child who attends Lakeside School and you are interested in having him/her receive this vaccine, please have your student pick up a consent in the main office at Lakeside School. Consents should be returned to the school nurses at Lakeside. If your child has already received one or two doses, they can receive the additional doses at our onsite clinic. Students will be monitored for 15 minutes after receiving the vaccine by a nurse.
Any questions/concerns or for more information, please feel free to contact our district Lead School at 856-293-2000, ext. 3864.
